Concept and detailed design for the refurbishment of an existing building to form a new clinical trial therapeutic protein manufacturing facility for a blue chip pharmaceutical company in the North East.
Our design team was tasked with providing the technical capability and capacity required for a second process stream producing cell culture derived therapeutic proteins for clinical trials. The challenge was to remodel an existing building to maximise usage of a limited space within an operational facility.
To meet the client’s objectives, BES provided a full detailed design solution including architectural, structural, HVAC, process, mechanical and electrical services. Our experts worked closely with the end users to create an optimised layout which would maximise use of available space as well as improve process flows. A fully federated BIM model was developed to enable virtual examination of all multidisciplinary services. We also designed WFI (Water for Injection) and Purified Water loops. The project was successfully completed to meet all relevant guidelines, frameworks and regulations.
