BES carried out both concept and detailed design for a new high bay warehouse project for AstraZeneca. The 30 m high, 1810 m2 clad rack structure will house automated storage and retrieval systems.
To provide qualified environmental controls, encompassing temperature and humidity, in a 30m high storage warehouse with a loading capacity in excess of 12,000 pallets. To coordinate the construction activities of the entire structure, ensuring safety of personnel and quality objectives fully met.
Utilizing an HVAC system capable of delivering air from the highest level within the building, recirculated from low level we not only provided excellent air distribution through the pallets, but also optimized coordination to ensure the services were outside the working zones of the automated loading cranes. With safety paramount, services modules were pre-fabricated at ground level, before being craned into position with the building structural steelwork. A hypoxic fire prevention system was incorporated into the HVAC system to maintained a reduced oxygen atmosphere.
