BES carried out a fully integrated design of a new specialist £120 million cancer drug manufacturing facility for bio-pharmaceutical giant, AstraZeneca. The three storey building has been designed to the most exacting specification in order to accommodate state of the art equipment and enable complex production processes.
To provide a fully qualified, sterile production facility, integrating the most complex production process and associated equipment, while providing flexibility within the design, to allow early commissioning and qualification of specific process items. Innovative solutions to challenging environmental requirements were also to be incorporated into a design which maintained compliance in all respects with the standards required by the relevant regulatory bodies.
Our multi-disciplined experts have extensive experience of the intricate detailing required in a facility of this complexity. The production suite is designed to the highest standards with fully vinyled walls, floors and ceilings. CFD modelling has been utilized to design airflows in the high grade areas and around equipment and cabinets. Innovative combined Pure Steam and WFI generation plant was incorporated into the pure utilities design, utilizing a scheme which allows early commissioning of specific circuits. The key areas related to the process stream were beta tested as part of the stakeholder consultation via full scale facility mock ups.
